The L&S Learning Support Services InfoLab (464 Van Hise Hall) now has 50 dual-boot MacBooks which run both Windows and MacOS.

The L&S Learning Support Services InfoLab (464 Van Hise Hall) serves many students and staff each day. Software and services are constantly being updated and enhanced so that students’ needs can be met. Some of the new things that we’ve added this semester are:

  • 50 Macbooks available for 3-day checkout. Not only have we added 10 more laptops to our checkout pool, we’ve also acquired dual-boot macbooks which run both Windows and MacOS. Students can now use the OS that they are most comfortable with, or experiment with something new. Macbooks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Wondering what equipment is available right now? Visit http://laptop.library.wisc.edu to see what equipment is available at each lab in the InfoLab network of computer labs.
  • New Macintosh computers. One of the few labs that has consistently offered both Macintosh and PC desktop computers, the LSS InfoLab received new iMacs this semester. Students will experience increased speed, more up-to-date programs and better reliability.

We continue to offer MiniDV videocameras and still camera checkouts in the InfoLab.

If you have questions about any of the InfoLab locations, you can visit the InfoLabs website at http://www.doit.wisc.edu/computerlabs. That site allows you to access information about each lab, and the software that it offers. You can search for specific pieces of software (like SAS or iMovie) or hardware (like slide scanners).

If you have questions about the LSS InfoLab, you can visit our webiste at http://lss.wisc.edu/facilities/infolab.
